The list of fish that live in our river has got longer in the last few years, probably because we’re looking harder, but the river cleaning, balsam pulling, pollution reporting, etc must also have helped.
Confirmed sightings are: brown trout, bullhead, flounder, freshwater eel, perch, grey mullet (possibly thin lipped mullet), three spined stickleback and roach. Most are only in parts of the river, not the whole length. They are found in the sections with the best habitat for their species (eg the brackish bits for the flounder) but that’s not bad for a small urban stream.
