Westbury Wildlife Park recently demonstrated riverfly monitoring to some visitors, showing them what lives in the River Trym.
Amongst the usual freshwater shrimps, olive nymphs and other invertebrates was a small eel. This is really encouraging given their scarcity (eels are a Red Listed species).
Every time we remove rubbish, pull balsam, report pollution, etc we’re helping amazing creatures like these.
